JAKARTA, Indonesia – Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam said Monday (February 3rd) that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accepted an invitation to make a state visit, local media reported.
Dipo, in Iran on Saturday and Sunday, said the meeting would be aimed at improving bilateral relations while also showing the importance of Muslim countries' strengthening ties to spread moderate views on Islam.
He added Indonesia wants to grow its relations with Iran because of shared membership in the Development 8 Group, and because they both have majority Muslim populations, according to the Jakarta Globe.
"With the promotion of moderate and authentic Islam, Muslims can face hard-liners and terrorists who claim (themselves) to be real Muslims," Dipo said.
