JAKARTA, Indonesia – The National Awakening Party (PKB) has discussed forging a coalition with the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in exchange for fielding a vice presidential candidate, local media reported.

Marwan Jafar, PKB central executive board head, told Kompas.com on Monday (April 14th) it was a reasonable offer since the Islamic party received 9% of last week's legislative election votes. Marwan said the PKB is discussing coalitions with other parties as well, according to The Jakarta Post.

Possible PKB nominees are dangdut singer Rhoma Irama, former vice president Jusuf Kalla, former Constitutional Court chief justice Mahfud MD and party chairman Muhaimin Iskandar.

PDI-P presidential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, who visited PKB headquarters Sunday, said the nomination of a vice presidential candidate was the only hurdle before a deal, according to the Jakarta Globe.
