PKB's Muhaimin won't seek presidency or vice presidency

April 16, 2014

JAKARTA, Indonesia – National Awakening Party (PKB) General Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar will not contend for president or vice president, party Chairman Abdul Wahid Maktub said Monday (April 14th), local media reported.

Abdul's comments came during a question about whether the PKB would form a coalition with the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) or the Great Indonesia Movement party (Gerindra).

PKB finished fifth in last week's legislative elections with 9% of the vote.

Muhaimin said the party would field a vice presidential candidate but not one for president, according to Antara News. He added that there has been no discussion of all Islamic parties forming a coalition.
