KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Representatives of the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) will meet again Saturday (July 13th) in Malaysia, after being unable to agree on wealth-sharing between the envisioned Bangsamoro political entity and the central government, local media reported.
A deal on wealth-sharing would have been a breakthrough since its contents are related to those of the two other annexes needed for the comprehensive agreement: power-sharing and normalisation, according to Rappler.com.
The parties agreed to extend talks beyond Friday, government chief negotiator Miriam Coronel-Ferrer said, because both sides "need to find good compromises on key issues like taxation and revenue (sharing). We seem to be caught up in the trees and missing the forest. Hopefully ... we will find solutions but we need flexibility on both sides," Sun Star quoted her as saying.
