JAKARTA, Indonesia – West Java Police chief Inspector General Suhardi Alius pledged Sunday (July 21st) to increase security after a Saturday attack in which two unidentified men threw a low-explosive bomb at the Rajapolah police station in Tasikmalaya, The Jakarta Post reported.
"We had tight security measures before the attack. We remain vigilant and will keep boosting security at police offices and public places, especially crowded places during Ramadan," he told The Post.
Two men on a motorcycle threw a bomb at the police station, which was detonated minutes later via cell phone after they drove off. Officers reported hearing a bang and saw smoke emanating. No fatalities, injuries or damage were reported.
According to Suhardi, the bomb was in a cooking pot and contained potassium, wiring and nails.
Police are still investigating the identity of the attackers.
