Indonesian arrested in Bangkok for smuggling crystal meth

BANGKOK, Thailand -- An Indonesian man was arrested late Tuesday (July 23rd) at Bangkok's main airport after authorities allegedly found 4.3kg of crystal methamphetamine hidden in a compartment of his suitcase, AFP reported.

    Customs officials stopped the man after he had arrived on a flight from India, "based on a tip-off and intelligence", said Paisal Chuenjit, director of the Customs Department's Investigation and Suppression Bureau.

    The man reportedly confessed to the charges and told officials that he was asked by an Indonesian woman to bring the baggage from Delhi to a hotel in central Bangkok. The street value of the crystal meth is estimated at $500,000.
