Philippines arrests wanted woman guerrilla

MANILA, Philippines – Police and troops captured a woman Sunday (July 28th) who is regarded as one of the Philippines' most-wanted Communist guerrillas. She had faced warrants for homicide and destruction of property, AFP reported.

Police said Maria Loida Magpatoc, secretary of the New People's Army's (NPA) Far South Mindanao Regional Committee, was arrested in a joint military-police operation in Digos, Mindanao.

A reward of 5.6m pesos ($130,000) was offered for her capture.
