NARATHIWAT, Thailand – Two suspected militants were killed early Friday (August 9th) during a raid by a joint police-military force in Rueso district of Narathiwat, local media reported.
Security personnel had received a tip that six armed members of the militant Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK) were inside a house, The Bangkok Post reported. Officials said the militants opened fire but after a 15-minute gun battle two were dead and the rest had fled.
Two M-16 assault rifles found by the bodies had been stolen from the Phra Ong Dam operations base in Narathiwat during an attack in January 2011, MCOT Online reported.
