MUI Pamekasan Secretary Zainal Alim told Kompas.com on Tuesday (August 20th) that the proposed law will function as a preventative measure for all students.

"If there are students behind in school because they are practicing free sex, schools will be tarnished by society saying the school cannot fix their students' morals."

Education Minister Mohammad Nuh condemned the proposal and a similar one raised by the head of Prabumulih: "If you want to protect your children from negative influence, there are others ways. This is not wise."

Masruchah, the deputy head of the national commission on violence against woman, told AFP, "A virginity test is a form of sexual violence against women."

    • From what is written above it is apparent to us that this is really happening, meaning that supervision is weak on the part of the parents and also society. Whatever people do they always fall within the context of society. Moving forward, the roles of mothers, fathers and society need to be enhanced because one of the causes is the advancements in communication technology. If tests were to be done on students it would be troublesome for the doctors and there would be a need to provide quite a few doctors. Thank you.

    • One of the many forms of incredible hypocrisy perpetrated by men. If there was a way to prove male virginity, such a depraved suggestion would certainly never arise because it would have repercussions for men. A country regulates the behavior of its citizens, but a country does not have the right to interfere in the personal domain. This is violence against women. This is the mindset of illiterate, uneducated, and (sorry) plebeian men. If a student was found to have lost her virginity, what would you do? Should the child lose their constitutional right to receive education? The leaders of this country are so idiotic! Whoever suggested this think they're the righteous one, when in reality they are the most hypocritical.
