SOLO, Indonesia – Central Java Police on Thursday (December 5th) held a counterterrorism simulation in Solo to improve preparedness before the Christmas and New Year's holidays, as well as next year's elections, local media reported.
"Such a simulation will make our personnel as well as the general public, aware of what they should do in the event of an attack," Central Java Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Unit Chief Mohammad Badrus said, according to The Jakarta Post.
Meanwhile, Solo City Police Chief Iriansyah insisted the drills weren't held in the city because of its association with terrorism. He said it was part of national security drills performed by Central Java Police since Monday.
Scenarios included an attack at a church and a bank robbery.
The drills reportedly caused traffic on several Solo main streets, according to Kompas.
