Bomb blasts injure ten in Hat Yai

BANGKOK, Thailand – At least ten people were wounded in four blasts in Hat Yai on Tuesday (May 6th), local media reported.

First, early in the afternoon, a bomb on a motorcycle detonated near a convenience store, injuring seven people, the Bangkok Post reported.

A second, larger blast, believed to be a car bomb, followed about ten minutes later near the main Hat Yai police station, wounding two police officers and a woman.

None of the injured was in serious condition, the reports said.

Two more bombs exploded near the Hat Yai railway station, and a fifth device was found and safely detonated near Prince of Songkhla hospital, according to The Nation. It did not say whether the additional blasts caused injuries, and gave a total of five wounded.

No one had yet claimed responsibility for the blasts, which also damaged some 30 vehicles, the Post said.
