Thailand to assist Sri Lanka in agriculture, fisheries

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand has agreed to help Sri Lanka develop its agriculture, fisheries and education sectors, Sri Lanka's government announced Wednesday (May 30th). The news came as Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra met with visiting President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Bangkok.

    Rajapaksa briefed Yingluck and Thai business leaders on developments in post-conflict Sri Lanka and urged them to take advantage of business opportunities on the island, a Sri Lankan government statement said.

    The two sides inked Memoranda of Understanding on bilateral political consultations and crime prevention at the meeting.
