Bangkok bomb suspect arrested

BANGKOK, Thailand – Another suspect was arrested early Thursday (June 20th) in Pattani in connection with last month's bombing near Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok, local media reported.

    The May 26th blast outside a street market in an area prone to gang activity, injured seven people and damaged several stalls.

    Thursday's arrest was based on information provided by the first suspect detained in the case. The Bangkok Post reported quoting officials. Police said three other suspects from Pattani remain under surveillance.

    National Security Council chief Paradorn Pattanathabut said Wednesday that since the blast, security agencies have monitored those who make frequent trips between Bangkok and the Deep South provinces, though there was no initial link between the bombing and insurgents there, MCOT Online reported.
