Thai court sentences two Iranians for botched bomb plot

BANGKOK, Thailand – One Iranian was sentenced to life imprisonment and another received 15 years in jail Thursday (August 22nd) in connection with a botched February 2012 bomb plot in Bangkok, AFP reported.

Saeid Moradi, who blew off both his legs as he attempted to lob an explosive device at police, was found guilty of charges including attempted murder and received a life sentence. He was trying to escape after explosives detonated accidently, blowing the roof off a house.

Mohammad Khazaei received a 15-year sentence for possession of explosives.

The two were among five Iranians suspected of involvement in blasts Israel linked to worldwide attacks on its diplomats. The February 14th, 2012 Bangkok incident followed previous day bomb attacks on Israeli diplomats in Georgia and India.
