Two killed in separate Deep South attacks

PATTANI, Thailand – A woman was shot dead Monday (November 4th) in Pattani and a defence volunteer was killed in an explosion in Narathiwat in the latest wave of Deep South violence, local media reported.

    Che-aeso Yako was on her way home after delivering sweets to a tea shop when a suspected insurgent, riding pillion on a motorcycle, shot her in the head, district Police Chief Jiraseth Daongerntrakul said, according to the Bangkok Post. Che-aeso later died at Sai Buri Hospital.

    Territorial-defence volunteer Fandee Jeh-arong was killed Sunday in an explosion near the train station in Sungai Padi district that he and his team were guarding, The Nation reported. The blast left a three-foot-deep and six-foot-wide hole 200m from the station.
