JAKARTA, Indonesia – The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) "inaugurated" Fahrurozzi Ishak as Jakarta governor outside the Jakarta City Council building on Monday (December 1st), as they again protested against Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama , local media reported.
Luthfi Hakim, head of the Betawi Brotherhood Forum (FBR) and a member of the Jakarta Saviours Presidium, led the swearing-in ceremony, The Jakarta Post reported. He claimed Ahok no longer had authority to govern the capital.
Inside City Hall during the protest, Ahok dismissed the latest protest by FPI. "Maybe they also need to appoint a new god as well," Ahok said, according to the Jakarta Globe.
The Globe estimated about 1,000 demonstrators filled the streets, but Tempo.co said the number was closer to 200.
