JAKARTA, Indonesia – Malaysian authorities have arrested and will deport a group of Indonesians allegedly travelling to the Middle East to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), local media reported.
The 12 Indonesians – three men, four women and five children – were en route to Syria via Malaysia, when Malaysian authorities arrested them on December 2nd, regional media reported.
"A team from the National Police has been sent to Malaysia to co-ordinate with the Malaysian immigration and they [the 12 Indonesians] will be repatriated as a preventive measure," the Jakarta Globe quoted Boy Rafli Amar, spokesman for the Indonesian National Police, as saying on Monday (December 15th).
