BANGKOK, Thailand -- Hundreds of well-wishers gathered near a Bangkok hospital Thursday (August 1st) as the widely revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej, 85, prepared to move to his coastal palace after almost four years of treatment for a host of ailments, AFP reported.

The king has lived at Siriraj Hospital since September 2009. His wife, Queen Sirikit, has been treated there for a year.

Royal physician Udom Kachintorn assured the public that the royal couple would be treated by the same number of doctors and nurses as they had in hospital once they make the two hour trip to Hua Hin where the seaside residence Klai Kangwon, or "far from worries", is located. Tens of thousands of well-wishers are expected to greet them there. The king has served for 67 years, making him the world's longest-serving royal.
