Insurgents kill 4 in separate Deep South attacks

YALA, Thailand – Four people, including two soldiers, were killed and another four people wounded by suspected insurgents in three separate Deep South attacks on Wednesday (January 29th), local media reported.

    Soldiers Somyod Plai-ngam and Suriya Salungseu were killed by a motorcycle bomb in Yala's Muang district. Police suspect an insurgent cell led by Apisi Yusoh perpetrated the attack, The Nation reported.

    Muhammada Sahoh and Masoloh Deeyoh were shot dead at a rubber plantation in Rueso district. A third man, Ayup Sahoh, sustained a gunshot wound after gunmen opened fire before fleeing.

    Three volunteer rangers were also wounded by two bombs allegedly targeting a patrol team providing protection to teachers in Yala's Yaha district. Police believe a cell led by Saudi Satorpa was responsible.
