KARO, Indonesia –Mt. Sinabung erupted again Monday (February 3rd), halting a search for more victims after 15 people were confirmed killed in an eruption two days earlier, AFP reported.

The weekend eruption was the first to claim any lives since Sinabung rumbled back to life in September. The volcano often erupts numerous times daily, on Monday spewing clouds of hot ash and rocks up to 2,500 metres high, the national disaster agency said.

Earlier, a rescue team found, buried under ash, the charred wreckage of motorcycles believed to have carried some of those killed Saturday.

Local rescue agency chief Rochmali said officials were considering a permanent halt to the search.
