Two suspected militants killed in Yala

YALA, Thailand – Two militants were killed Thursday (May 30th) during a shootout with a combined police and military force in Yala province's Bannang Sata district, local media reported.

Acting on a tip that three or four militants were inside, Rangers and police surrounded a house and opened fire mid-morning, The Bangkok Post reported.

After more than two hours of sporadic exchanges, authorities moved in and found the bodies.

One of them, Yukibuli Che Dimae, 35, of Bannang Sata district, was wanted in connection with a series of cases, including a 2010 bombing that killed popular police official Sompien Eksomya, according to The Nation.
