BEKASI, Indonesia – The National Police's criminal investigation department on Monday (December 23rd) found 139 women and 22 girls, believed to be human trafficking victims, while raiding a house, local media reported.

The house in Bekasi, West Java, belonged to Mahkota Ulfa Sejahtera, a company that helps place migrant workers in jobs overseas, according to the Jakarta Globe.

"We received reports from local people who suspected there were people in the house that were being held hostage," said Arie Dharmanto, head of the trafficking unit of Bareskrim's General Crime Division. "Afterwards, we went directly to the location and saw the house was locked. After we opened it, we were surprised to find hundreds of people inside."

Police arrested two people, identified as Y. and V., in East Nusa Tenggara, Arie said.
