Police kill six terror suspects in shootout

CIPUTAT, Indonesia – Detachment 88 killed six suspected terrorists during a nine-hour standoff that started late Tuesday (December 31st), local media reported.

The six were believed to be behind recent shootings targeting police officers, which killed at least three, and bombings at the Ekayana Buddhist Temple in Jakarta in August, The Jakarta Post reported.

Police seized Rp. 200m ($16,400) in cash, believed to have been stolen from Bank Rakyat Indonesia in Panongan on December 24th.

One person was arrested after the shootout, the Jakarta Globe reported.
