Indonesia bomb-maker gets 7.5 years in Burma embassy plot

JAKARTA, Indonesia– A court Thursday (January 23rd) jailed an Islamic extremist and bomb-maker for seven-and-a-half years for his role in a plot to attack the Burmese embassy last May, AFP reported.

Separiano, arrested the night before the planned attack in Jakarta with a backpack full of pipe-bombs, is the fourth person to go to prison in the failed plot.

"The defendant Separiano... has been proven guilty legally and convincingly of making and transporting the bombs for an act of terrorism," presiding judge Suwanto said.

Separiano could have faced the death penalty.
